TRIVIUM

HEAVEN SHALL BURN

WILL HIT THE STAGE ON THE
FIRST FESTIVAL DAY
AT THE INVITATION OF BALKAN ENTERTAINMENT

July 7 and July 8 (Saturday and Sunday)
National Stadium Vasil Levski

By adding up two bands never seen before in Bulgaria - Trivium, one of the most contemporary American metal bands, and the aggressive German metalcore/deathcore machine Heaven Shall Burn, the Sofia Rocks 2012 line up is now completed. The festival turns into a real rock feast for the fans of heavy music.

On July 7 (Saturday), on the first festival day, all the fans, craving for a wave of modern rock, will have the opportunity to warm up with the sets of the Irish metal godfathers Sweet Savage, the melodic death metallers Symmetry, Heaven Shall Burn, the Swedish rap-metal giants Clawfinger and the adored Trivium, before the long awaited appearance of Godsmack.

The second festival day will bring the fans unique emotions, with their long awaited idols, such as the legendary Foreigner vocalist Lou Gramm, the naughty Ugly Kid Joe, the sympho metallers of Within Temptation, the original sounding Kaiser Chiefs, the icons Iggy And The Stooges and the one and only Guns N’ Roses.

Trivium

Trivium’s fifth studio album „In Waves” is not just a new record. It is a statement.
A statement for rearrangement of their own rules, a new definition of being a modern metal band. A statement accepting the infinity of music, the emotions, movements and vision. Statement of modern sound evolution which will affect everyone under its influence.
The first, yet slight signs of the forthcoming tsunami „In Waves” appear during the 2009 tour. While on the road, the band’s vocalist and guitarist Matt Heafy starts to shape the direction the band shall take, from mastering the genre’s standards to a brand new and different musical approach.
When released, each of their albums so far causes an unprecedented movement among musicians and fans. „Ascendancy”(2005) seals the band’s position in the metal genre, selling over 500 000 copies worldwide.
„Shogun” enters Billboard Top 200 at #23 and Top 100 in 18 other countries. Trivium’s thunderous entering in the world’s metal elite, leads to concerts with big names such as Iron Maiden and Slipknot, and a special guest spot on leading festivals like Download, Rock Star Energy Drink Mayhem Festival and OZZfest.
They don’t do things the way a normal metal band is supposed to. The whole success does not change Trivium’s dissatisfaction with the genre’s defined boundaries and their anxiety to push them.
“This album is the answer of all questions we, as a metal band, asked ourselves about the music of today, explains Heafy. – “We want to take a step forward in the metal music. We will not explain people what „In Waves” stands for – we will leave this to every listener’s creativity and imagination.
The music speaks for itself. This album is not inspired by any other music, but visions, movies and directors like David Lynch, Lars von Trier, Thomas Andersson and Cristopher Nolan. Hence the whole idea of modern art, of ignoring any principles and rules. The idea that the modern art could be anything and everything, ignoring the “right” and “wrong” labels.
Free from the commitment to follow the rules and wound up by the idea of creating just the music they want, Trivium experiments with billions of sounds, from cardboard tubes, fire extinguishers and napkins to out-of-tune pianos. The total chaos of free sounds is the source of the final version of each song. “If certain album is a movie soundtrack, then “In Waves” is a movie”, states Heafy. “ It has everything – the soundtrack, the visions and the design. This is a full value audio-visual experience. The whole idea of art is to build up more creativity and more art. So far no one has made the album we wanted to hear, so we made it ourselves. It is time to bring the metal to another dimension and to new people.”

Heaven Shall Burn

Heaven Shall Burn is a phenomenon. Instead of roaming in search of some shady innovations, the quintet from Weimar, Germany dwells in well known territories, to change band’s sound in the most natural way. The long-lived friendship and harmony between the band members are the basis of the constantly running creative stream they all share. They are not in a hurry to swamp the fans with a number of records; they take their time, making sure they don’t record anything, if they’re not ready to unleash the beast.
For the recording of“Invictus“ /full title “Invictus” (Iconoclast III)/, Heaven Shall Burn return to Tue Madson’s studio in Denmark. The album is produced by both guitarists, Maik Weichert and Alexander Dietz. “Never change a winning team” turned out to be the best and most effective option for Heaven Shall Burn. Maik explains: “Tue Maden knows and understands our sound. For us it is easier to improve and develop our sound further, when we are working with someone we know. Otherwise it would mean getting adjusted to someone new every time we record an album, which doesn’t feel right to us.” Adding up new elements to their trade mark sound is a challenge to their belief in traditions. The album shows a heavy flirt with electronic, proving that their heavy sound leaves room for changes and innovations, and the highly emotional moments in many of the songs are not exactly what you would have expected from Heaven Shall Burn. Still, no fan who is into their heavy and majestic riffs, that are influenced by Scandinavian metal and even the gloomy black metal, will be disappointed.
“Invictus” is the 3rd part of “Iconoclast” and their DVD “Bildersturm”. Again stories about unconventional heroes are being told, a different light is cast upon well known idols and legends.
